John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions through his songs of pop-folk and many of them inspired by Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in affection with Colorado and later settled in Aspen. Denver's anthems of fame about Colorado have inspired many people to make the move to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says that John Denver is unlike any other artist who embodies Colorado. In 2011, Denver was chosen as the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Denver is a symbol of the state for all people. If you travel with me, you may meet people at opposite sides of the world. For example an individual from New Zealand. And when someone asks you if you're from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time in folk groups which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff created the track along with Johnny Cash in mind but after Denver heard an early version it was clear that the track could become a hit single. After the performance to a throng of fans on the streets of Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
